GDANSK, Poland. March 12 (PSN) – Lechia Gdansk have yet again hit another road bump in the twenty-fifth round of the 2018/2019 LOTTO Ekstraklasa season.
On Monday evening in Gdansk, Lechia found themselves draw with Wisla Plock in a one-to-one goal ratio. Both Alan Uryga and Flavio Paixao each scored for their sides in the encounter. In the first half, fans did not see any goals, but there was still plenty to talk about and excitement at the stadium. The two teams played very offensive football and created a lot of interesting goal chances, but neither were able to capitalize on any of them. It was only in the second half where Alan Urgya broke the deadlock and put Wisla on top, after heading the ball from a free kick into the penalty box. Moments later, the hosts attempted to respond, but Paixao missed a perfect goal opportunity. Lechia did eventually manage to equalize but it wasn’t from open play. In the 77th minute, the referee dictated a penalty kick for Lechia, which saw Paixao take it. The Portuguese striker struck the ball to left side of the goal, and although the Wisla goalkeeper Thomas Dahne sensed his intentions, the ball fell into the net just missing his hands. The Gdansk outfit may have slugged out a draw for themselves, but at the end of the day, this is yet another road bump that sees second place Legia Warsaw inch ever closer to first place contention.
